A Visit from Colin

During this summer, with no school, Colin has dropped by the office a few times, once for a company party and a few times for lunch.  I wonder what he thinks of my job, as he sees me sitting and staring at my computer screen.  He’s probably thinking that’s the same thing he sees me doing at home all the time.  Anyway, Colin seems quite excited to sit with me in my cubicle, though I think that’s mostly because I let him watch a video while I do some work.  Today, however, Colin also got to eat at the company cafeteria for the first time.  Myself, I’m not a huge fan of the cafeteria, though I guess it’s pretty good as company cafeterias go.  I tried to persuade Colin to go out for lunch, but he insisted we stay on campus.  And so, we headed across the street to the building with the cafeteria, where I ordered some chicken wings from the grill and Colin got a slice of pizza.  Unfortunately, the only type of pizza left was the veggie pizza.  Typically, Colin prefers cheese pizza and I just get him a slice of pepperoni and I eat all the slices for him.  With a veggie pizza, I’m not really inclined to eat all the vegetables for him, in this case, artichokes, spinach and tomato slices.  Well, Colin wasn’t into the veggies either and the spinach was stuck to the cheese, so the slice went mostly uneaten.  Instead, Colin munched on the carrot sticks and french fries from my plate.  Despite the pizza disappointment, Colin was still impressed with the cafeteria and wants a return visit.  Maybe because of the ice cream he got for dessert?  After lunch, Colin hung out in my cubicle a little longer playing with my iPod and then Patti returned to pick him up.  I think we both had a pretty good time with Colin’s visit.  I’m going to miss these opportunities when the school year starts.
