Men in Trees Canceled

While Men in Trees was never one of my top-tier shows, I still always managed to find time for it and am disappointed that it has been canceled. It was a cute and uplifting little dramedy and there aren’t that many good dramedies around. For some reason, it seemed like ABC was never really into the show. Yes, the ratings were not great (I don’t personally know a single other person who watches this show), but it had a loyal core of fans and seemed like it could grow a decent audience with some network support. Instead, the show was constantly being moved from one time slot to another and was put on long hiatuses with no announcements on when it would return. Even during the recent writers’ strike, a fresh batch of MIT episodes just sat there unaired while ABC aired random junk instead. Why the lack of network love for the show? So, given the apathy shown by the network, it was no surprise the show was axed. It’s just hard for me to imagine that there’s no room on the schedule for an entertaining show like this. Does ABC really have that much good stuff to air? The only other ABC shows I watch are Brothers & Sisters and Lost. At least the producers had a chance to prepare for the show’s demise by filming an alternate season finale that will now serve as the series finale. At least fans like me will get some closure. Right, ABC? You will air these final episodes, right? The final batch of MIT episodes is scheduled to start airing May 28.
