If I haven’t had time to watch a television show during these past few months, then I probably won’t have any time after I start working. And so, I make my first serious cut from my schedule. I will be deleting the six episodes of Heroes I currently have on my TiVo. After the disappointing season premiere, I just didn’t feel the urge to watch any further episodes. Reading often lukewarm reviews didn’t help. In my mind, I’ve seen all I need to see from this world. I’m usually pretty tough on science fiction shows, though I can’t wait until Battlestar Galactica comes back.
Some of that saved disk space will be taken up by another one of my favorite reality shows, Project Runway, which returns this coming Wednesday. Unlike Top Chef, where you can’t taste the food, you can see the clothes on Project Runway and be a judge at home. And I always like Tim Gunn. It should be another season of entertaining designers.
As for my “television crisis”, the problem has been traced to my television, not my TiVo. Thank goodness. The idea of replacing the television is much more attractive than replacing the TiVo. I made a vow a few years ago never to buy a CRT again, so a television replacement would definitely be a flat screen, a small one since I live in a small apartment. The problem has gone away the past few days, though, so if this television can just survive a little while longer, until we’ve moved, then maybe I will be shopping in the 40+ inch range instead of the 20+ inch range. Won’t that be fun!
